Yesterday morning Nate and I had quite a scare when I discovered I was bleeding. Not a lot, but after what had happened the first time, I was scared.Talk about an emotional roller coaster! I hopped in the shower and Nate hopped online; while I tried to compose myself he did some research on possible causes. I got on the phone to book an appointment with my doctor as soon as I got out of the shower, and while I was on hold he read me some of the stories of other women who had similar problems and still had healthy babies. The bleeding subsided after that first episode, and I wasn't cramping at all, so we were worried but not despondent. We figured that, whatever it was, it was certainly fixable. But I was worried about the baby, of course.
By the time we got to go in for a check up at the hospital we were feeling much better about the whole situation, but just wanted to see the baby and know that everything was going to be okay. It turns out my cervix was bleeding, so the doctor cauterized it and then did an ultrasound. And, boy, was our baby squirmy!
I could see it's little profile, and it's big round tummy (well, relatively big; it's only 4.05 centimeters long!). We could see his (or her) little arms waving around and it was kicking his or her legs, and moving all around, back and forth. Wiggly little thing!! For the first time, our baby seemed to have a personality and identity all it's own.
Nate is so excited and I am so glad we were there together to see it wiggle and dance. We can't wait for next Friday to see it again.
Sweet, squirmy little thing.
xoxoxo
